- ➤ Junior League of Wilmington will host its 72nd annual Bargain Sale at the Elks Lodge next month to support women’s leadership initiatives, starting Friday, Feb. 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. with Sip & Shop and continuing Saturday, Feb. 28 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. WECT
- ➤ The Junior League of Wilmington will host its 72nd annual Bargain Sale at the Elks Lodge next month. Shoppers can enjoy early access during the Sip (Friday, Feb. 27 from 6 to 9 p.m.) and get 50 percent off on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with tickets priced at $5 for Saturday-only access and $20 for Sip and Shop. - ➤ New Hanover County Schools will host a Budget Town Hall on Jan. 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Board of Education facility in Wilmington. Staff will meet at 5 p.m. — families and community join at 6 p.m. to share feedback for future budget decisions. WECT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ CFPUA (Cape Fear Public Utility Authority) lifted a boil water advisory for a Wilmington area along Oleander Drive yesterday, allowing residents to safely use tap water. WECT
- ➤ A new roundabout at River Road and Independence Boulevard is now open, although additional paving is planned for the coming weeks. The $2.42 million project, funded by the city and development partners Riverlights and Proximity Watermark Development, aims to improve traffic flow and safety with drivers urged to proceed carefully. - ➤ The NAACP New Hanover County Chapter hosts candidate meet-and-greet events at Ebenezer Empowerment Center, 2929 Princess Place Drive; school board candidates (Jan. 26, 5 to 7:30 p.m.) and board of commissioners (Jan. 29, 5 to 7:30 p.m.) are set to appear with light refreshments provided. WECT

- ➤ North Carolina’s Health Department launched I Gave Birth, a maternal health initiative partnering with 48 hospitals to help new mothers check for severe postpartum symptoms by providing bracelets as reminders to call a provider if they experience chest pain or severe headache during the first 42 days after birth. - ➤ NCDHHS is offering carbon monoxide safety tips ahead of the weekend winter storm. Residents are urged to keep gasoline-powered generators and grills outdoors and at least 20 feet away from windows, doors, and vents to prevent poisoning. WECT
