  • The Alliance for Cape Fear Trees will host a Valentine’s Day tree giveaway Saturday, Feb. 14 at D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy; families from select local groups may pick up to two trees from 9 to 11 a.m. (public pickup opens at 11 a.m.).  WECT

  • Wilmington's Green House restaurant will permanently close after five years due to space and landlord issues — the final service is on Feb. 21 and gift cards must be redeemed before then.  WECT

  • Cameron Art Museum will host Novant Health Day on Saturday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., inviting Novant Health employees and their families to explore art’s role in wellness through staff-led tours, student pieces, and a pop-up meditation session.  WECT

  • A new study by Remote Rocketship found North Carolina ranked second in remote work searches, with 1,362.39 searches per 100,000 residents from April 2024 to March 2025, while Georgia and Florida led the trend in the South.  WWAY

  • A 2-year-old Great Pyrenees from the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit is looking for a home available for adoption at 180 Division Drive in Wilmington & the shelter welcomes visitors Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.  WECT

  • A new 292-home development in Castle Hayne is under county review as Sea Horse Development submits revised plans addressing environmental concerns and traffic impact on Castle Hayne Road near I-140. Updated site plans are expected in the coming months — the project offers 35 acres of open space for future residents.  Port City Daily
