  • Anthony’s Way (The Road to Kindness) will host its third annual one-mile walk at Carolina Beach Lake Park on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. to support programs for children and teens with ADHD.  WECT
  • Residents in Wilmington honored James Van Der Beek, who died Feb. 11, with a downtown memorial featuring flowers, pictures, and candles — local sports figures and fans recalled his warm, genuine nature and lasting impact on the community.  WWAY

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Award-winning chef Keith Rhodes has opened Voyce in downtown Wilmington, a Black-owned restaurant offering dishes inspired by his Caribbean travels and family heritage (his grandmother Virgie and grandfather Royce). Its menu and décor tell a story of rich cultural tradition.  FOX Wilmington

CULTURE NEWS

  • Big Dawg Productions presents the secret play 'White Rabbit Red Rabbit' at Thalian Hall’s studio theater downtown from Feb. 12 to Feb. 22. The production features a new lead actor each night after a Feb. 11 dress rehearsal with local actor Chad Hsu (showing a blend of humor and tension).  Wilmington Star-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • New Hanover County Schools is celebrating bus drivers during School Bus Driver Appreciation Week as it faces a nationwide shortage, with drivers covering extra routes and 20 available positions (to boost service).  FOX Wilmington

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has issued a boil water advisory for 300 customers on Greenville Loop Road and nearby neighborhoods since Feb. 11. Residents must boil tap water for 1 minute before use while crews work to repair the system.  Port City Daily
  • Novant Health’s board approved a $1 billion expansion to boost cardiovascular care in New Hanover County. The project will build a heart & vascular tower at South 17th Street and an 80,000 sqft outpatient office in Wilmington over five to seven years, with the tower opening by 2031.  WECT
