  • Roxann Lansdowne, board chairman of Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, was honored with the North Carolina Attorney General’s Dogwood Award — a recognition for her work fighting food insecurity in southeastern communities.  WECT
  • Tonka is a timid but friendly 1-year-old Coonhound from Monty’s Home who is looking for his forever home. A meet and greet is set for Sunday, Feb. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Monty’s Home Thrift Shop in Burgaw.  WECT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country singer Dierks Bentley will perform on July 16 at Live Oak Bank Pavilion as part of his Off The Map Tour with special guests Ricky Skaggs, Kentucky Thunder, and Cole Goodwin. Tickets go on sale on Feb. 20 at 10 a.m.  WECT
  • Air Angels: Flight Helene, a documentary about local volunteer pilots who delivered lifesaving aid after Hurricane Helene, will premiere tomorrow on Cape Fear CW 3.3 and WWAY channels in Wilmington. The broadcast features interviews with Zeb Hadley and Dr. Craig McCotter (with encore showings next Sunday).  WWAY
  • Dustin Lynch, a multi-platinum country singer, will headline the 79th annual N.C. Azalea Festival on Friday, April 10 at Live Oak Bank Pavilion in downtown Wilmington (gates open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.).  Wilmington Star-News

  • North Carolina film and television production generated $185.5 million in direct spending during 2025 and supported over 7,000 jobs statewide, with 38 projects filming across 45 counties—including shows like Beast Games and Top Chef—while several productions will continue in 2026.  WECT

HEALTH NEWS

  • NBA legend Michael Jordan donated millions to open medical clinics and a neuroscience institute for improved healthcare in his hometown. The facilities are expected to offer enhanced care to local residents.  Wilmington Star-News
  • The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a ‘do not drive’ warning today for 225,000 vehicles with unrepaired Takata airbags— including Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler and Ram models; Wilmington drivers with affected vehicles should visit a local dealership for a free repair promptly.  WECT

  • Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity announced its first mixed-income development after acquiring 30 acres near Sidbury Road and Buck Drive on Friday, Feb. 13. The project will include 150 to 200 housing units with traditional Habitat homes, market-rate homes and multifamily units.  WECT
  • Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity announced on Friday at their Golden Hammer Breakfast its purchase of 30 acres (near Sidbury Road and Buck Drive) for its first mixed-income development that will have 150–200 housing units (including Habitat and market-rate homes) to help build a stronger community.  WWAY
