  • A report released today by U.S. News and World Report names Brunswick County as the nation’s top spot for new residents due to its coastal charm, mild weather, and outdoor appeal; the study also shows Wilmington as a growing destination (rising migration fuels interest).  Wilmington Star-News
  • A longtime resident of Creekwood public housing in Wilmington reported noticing better safety from updated security measures as local officials continue to enhance community protection.  Wilmington Star-News
  • Wilmington once had many grocery stores like Earth Fare, A&P and Colony Foods that later closed or moved due to changes in ownership and shift in local markets. Community members recall stores like Parker's that shaped local food access + neighborhood shopping, now replaced by new businesses and repurposed spaces.  Wilmington Star-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Wilmington Housing Authority operates 16 properties + eight single-family homes for low-income residents. The portfolio includes apartment complexes and houses across town to provide essential housing support.  Wilmington Star-News
  • The NAACP branch hosted Souls to the Polls on Sunday to encourage local voters by walking from Saint Stephen AME Church to Cape Fear Community College McLeod Building; candidates Salette Andrews + Rob Zapple joined before participants gathered at Eagle’s Dare to celebrate. HEALTH NEWS

  • Jimi Sanchez of Wilmington transformed his life by losing 300 pounds with lifestyle changes and bariatric surgery at Novant Health Weight Management and Wellness.
