- ➤ Carolina Beach will host the free Boardwalk Blast series from May 22 to Sept. 4, featuring weekly live music at 6:30 p.m. on the Boardwalk Gazebo Stage and fireworks beginning at 9 p.m., organized by the Town of Carolina Beach Parks and Recreation (chairs are welcome, and dancing shoes encouraged). - ➤ Local chef Dean Neff of Seabird launched a Free Fish Bank at Zora’s Market and Kitchen on Castle Street to give 20 free fish weekly in partnership with UNC Wilmington’s Black Sea Bass program; he received the NC Restaurant and Lodging Association Ken Conrad Award for Service to the Community. - ➤ Feast Wilmington, named one of the best food festivals by USA TODAY 10BEST Reader’s Choice, will host its third annual event March 28-29 at Live Oak Bank Pavilion. - ➤ Pender County Schools educator Lisa Godwin was appointed to the state Blue Ribbon Commission on Public Education on March 10 to review North Carolina’s K-12 system. The 28-member group will develop policy recommendations by Dec. 31 ahead of the upcoming General Assembly session. Port City Daily
- ➤ Cape Fear Community College is hosting a part-time career fair (corner of Second and Red Cross streets in the L Building lobby) on Wednesday, Mar. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local job seekers, including students and community members, are invited to meet employers offering flexible work opportunities. - ➤ Pet owners may soon walk their dogs on Wrightsville Beach as a proposed ordinance, spurred by a petition from Douglas Wilson, would allow pets in select areas during the busy summer season—voting on the change is set for tomorrow at the Board of Aldermen meeting. WWAY

- ➤ A documentary screening titled The (M) Factor 2: Before the Pause (Perimenopause) will be shown Saturday, Mar. 14 at Jengo’s Playhouse and includes a panel discussion with Dr. Amy Hawkins, Dr. Nadine Antonelli and Caroline Keeler.
