  • Hell’s Kitchen is hosting its James Van Der Beek Day event on Tuesday, March 24 from 11 a.m. to midnight to raise funds for colorectal cancer research and education; a portion of food and drink sales will benefit the Blue Ribbon Run in Wilmington.  FOX Wilmington
  • Yesterday, Wilmington Rock Gym hosted a supportive Women's Climbing Night with assisted climbs + today, the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade began at Front and Brunswick Streets + tomorrow, models will showcase new designs at Lumina on Wrightsville Beach during the Azalea Festival Spring Fashion Show.  WWAY
  • Airlie Gardens invites community members to its Blooms and Brews event on Friday, March 20 from 6 to 10 p.m. on the Oak Lawn. The event will feature food, drinks, live music and a social station, and ticket sales of $100 for individuals and $175 for couples will help support garden care.  WECT
  • Carolina Beach hosts the 22nd Annual Steve Haydu St. Patrick’s Day Lo Tide Run today at 8 a.m. at Cape Fear Boulevard near the Boardwalk Stage. The event features a 10K, timed 5K and untimed 5K — participants are encouraged to wear festive attire as all proceeds support local cancer patients.  FOX Wilmington

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country music icon Willie Nelson will perform at Live Oak Bank Pavilion in downtown Wilmington on Tuesday, Apr. 28 with rising singer Drayton Farley opening the concert — tickets go on sale Friday, Mar. 20 at 10 a.m.  Port City Daily
  • Business leader Terry Espy (Momentum Companies president) is working to preserve Castle Street’s arts district by leasing three commercial retail properties slated for demolition. The effort will help maintain its unique ambiance and support local galleries, cafes, and antique shops.  WWAY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New Hanover County will review a proposal to sell the 60-acre Flossie Bryan tract near Independence Boulevard to North Carolina Coastal Land Trust for $3 million, with the trust planning to transform the land into trails and an educational park; commissioners will vote Monday (the deal eases county upkeep).  Port City Daily

  • Wagon Tails Farm hosts a free vaccination clinic for pets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 22 at Hi-Wire Brewing (1020 Princess St), supported by Petco Love’s initiative to offer key vaccines and preventive care to protect local pets.  WWAY
  • Former NC Health Secretary Kody Kinsley joined Healthier United's board for its 501(c)(3) arm, helping the nonprofit expand its public health work in North Carolina. Known for expanding Medicaid and easing hospital debt, Kinsley said the role will build bipartisan coalitions to improve health services.  WWAY
