  • New Hanover County is hosting Community Safety Day on Saturday, Mar. 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Senior Resource Center to offer free services like medication disposal, document shredding, and vehicle safety checks - the event aims to boost personal safety and emergency preparedness.  FOX Wilmington

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On March 12, a mobile home fire on Grist Creek Wynd in Leland killed two children and injured two others; investigators are working to determine the cause.  FOX Wilmington

  • Southern rock band 38 Special will perform at CFCC’s Wilson Center on Friday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. as part of their Milestone – 50 Year Legacy Tour (tickets become available Wednesday, Mar. 18 at 10 a.m. with general sale starting Friday, Mar. 20 at 10 a.m.).  WWAY

  • Cape Fear Community College will host a GIS information session on Tuesday, Mar. 31 at 6:00 p.m. in the NB Building, room 135 on its North Campus in Castle Hayne—there is no cost to attend, and the session will offer insight into mapping skills and career opportunities in geospatial analysis.  WWAY
  • New Hanover County Schools reported a ($2.5M) budget gap for 2026-2027, with Superintendent Chris Barnes outlining funding needs for staff raises and enhancements while officials plan county discussions for additional support.  Port City Daily
