- ➤ On April 9, Wilmington will host an NC News Cafe (at WHQR, 254 N. Front St.) where locals can meet StarNews journalists and other media for coffee and conversation on local news. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The N.C. Forest Service has imposed a statewide burn ban on open fires effective 6 p.m. Saturday due to heightened wildfire risk from drought and hot conditions — burning permits are canceled and any violation may incur fines and costs. Residents should follow local rules to ensure safety. WECT
