- ➤ Hollis Briggs, a longtime community leader, was honored in a celebration of life held Saturday at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where leaders and loved ones gathered to reflect on his role in organizing the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade and strengthening community ties. The service ended with his procession marching along the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade route before his burial at Bethel AME Church Cemetery in Leland — marking a final tribute to his lasting legacy. - ➤ Winnabow Volunteer Fire Department shared photos on Facebook—showing Cape Fear area fire crews working to contain massive wildfires in Polk County.
