ECONOMY NEWS

  • Initial filings for unemployment benefits in North Carolina dropped last week as claims fell from 3,419 to 3,096 for the week ending March 29 — the U.S. Department of Labor also reported a national decline from 225,000 to 219,000.  Wilmington Star-News

HEALTH NEWS

  • T.W. Garner Food Company recalled certain lots of Texas Pete Habanero Buffalo Sauce and Texas Pete Sweet CHAbanero Sauce in ten states including North Carolina because some Habanero bottles may contain sriracha with undeclared sulfites and some Sweet CHAbanero bottles failed to include the labeled aged peppers. Consumers who purchased these products are urged to dispose of or return them—no illnesses have been reported.  FOX Wilmington
