  • Getmyboat released a report that ranked Wilmington as the fourth top boating destination in North Carolina and Wrightsville Beach as second based on booking and demand data. Wilmington offers boating options—such as charter fishing and sunset cruises—that attract boaters as the season kicks off in April and May.  Wilmington Star-News
  • Wawa has submitted plans for a new convenience store at 5328 Oleander Drive near Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park after previous plans were withdrawn due to community pushback — the proposal calls for a 6,372 square foot building, gas pumps and parking as part of a plan to open 10 to 15 stores in the area.  Wilmington Star-News

  • The Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College will host One Night of Queen on September 9 at 7 p.m.—Gary Mullen and The Works will pay tribute to Queen. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on April 21 for members and at 10 a.m. on April 22 for the general public.  WECT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The city of Wilmington started using a new solar-powered buoy in Greenfield Lake to track water quality—this device monitors water conditions and helps predict harmful algae blooms to limit future algae growth.  WECT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • CFPUA filed a formal objection to Chemours’ petition to seal over 180 documents and its summary judgment briefing in a lawsuit over GenX water pollution. The records would show decades of PFAS releases from Chemours and DuPont at the chemical plant that discharged into the Cape Fear River — CFPUA says customers deserve full transparency.  WECT
