- ➤ The Wrightsville Beach Farmers Market is set to open its season at a new location—Wrightsville Beach Park Softball Field—on Monday, May 4. Running every Monday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Dec. 7, it offers fresh produce, crafts and free parking by Causeway Drive. Port City Daily
- ➤ The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher is hosting its annual May the 4th beach clean-up to celebrate Star Wars Day. The event takes place Monday, May 4, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area (volunteers can join in a costume contest and use provided supplies). FOX Wilmington

- ➤ Battleship North Carolina offers discounted $13 admission for adult residents through Dec. 31 — a special rate commemorating the country’s 250th anniversary and a shared history with the community. WECT
- ➤ Wilmington-area restaurants and bars will offer Cinco de Mayo food and drink specials plus live entertainment from May 1 to May 5. Zocalo Street Food + Tequila will hold a block party at The Pointe at Barclay while other venues host themed gatherings. Wilmington Star-News

- ➤ Cape Fear Community College invites community members to attend upcoming in-person information sessions on its Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program at the North Campus (Castle Hayne). Attendees can meet instructors and learn about the program’s 640-hour training for entry-level law enforcement roles. WWAY
- ➤ Thousands of teachers, including hundreds from Cape Fear, will rally in Raleigh on Friday to demand better funding and pay for public schools while local districts adjust schedules to keep classes running (Brunswick and Columbus have set workdays). WWAY

- ➤ New Hanover County Fire Rescue opened a $12.5 million fire station on Gordon Road today to serve a fast-growing area with rising calls. The facility features decontamination rooms and houses both operational teams — and administrative offices to better connect services. WECT
