COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Christian Recovery Centers, Inc. will host its 9th Annual Drive Away Addiction Golf Tournament next month in Wilmington to bring the community together for a day of golf while supporting recovery efforts.  WECT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Bellamy Mansion Museum kicks off its annual Jazz at the Mansion summer series with Darryl Murrill performing on Wednesday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. in Wilmington. The series continues every second Wednesday through the summer with later shows (weather permitting) and tickets sold at the door.  FOX Wilmington
  • Outdoor summer concerts will rock the area with hundreds of free and ticketed shows from May through October, held at parks, amphitheaters, and waterfront venues around Wilmington. Concert series feature diverse genres including rock, country, and jazz and take place across New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender counties.  Wilmington Star-News
  • Cape Fear Community College’s Wilson Center in Wilmington announced its 2026-2027 Broadway and the Beach season featuring Waitress (Oct.-2 to Oct.-4) and The Book of Mormon (Oct.-19 to Oct.-20); Community Day ticket sales will start on July 25, available online and at the box office.  WECT
  • Orange Street ArtsFest, a juried arts festival in downtown Wilmington featuring over 80 artists from NC & nearby states, is set to return on Memorial Day weekend as a key local celebration of art.  WECT
  • Bellamy Mansion Museum launches Jazz at the Mansion in partnership with Cape Fear Jazz Society, hosting live jazz every second Wednesday through the summer. The event series kicks off this week at the historic venue.  WECT

HEALTH NEWS

  • UNC Health has announced plans to construct a new community hospital on a 62 acre site at the southeast corner of S. 17th Street and Shipyard Boulevard. The planned facility will offer emergency care, cardiology, oncology, and OBGYN services to meet growing local needs.  Port City Daily

  • Wilmington coffee shops are expanding by blending daytime coffee service with evening cocktails (including spots like Azalea Station and Concorde Espresso Bar) to offer co-working and event spaces that boost after-5 p.m. and weekend activity.  Wilmington Star-News
