- ➤ Dozens of cyclists gathered in Wilmington on May 22nd to ride in silence and honor at least six riders killed on local roads since 2015 — the hour-long event served as a reminder for drivers to give cyclists more space and follow road rules. - ➤ Organizations across Cape Fear are hosting Memorial Day events to honor fallen soldiers. Surf City residents will attend a ceremony at Soundside Park today at 9 a.m.—while ceremonies in New Hanover County are scheduled at Wilmington National Cemetery and Battleship North Carolina on May 26. - ➤ The New Hanover County Library will close its original Main Library at 201 Chestnut St in August as it prepares to open a new location later this year. - ➤ Today, in a Wilmington trial, a former cellmate testified that defendant Raquel Adams—held without bond for a 2021 double murder on Providence Road—said police would have to drain the river to find the murder weapon and that he targeted victim Koredreese Tyson after a work dispute. WECT

- ➤ Netflix released a trailer yesterday for 'The Waterfront'—a series filmed in Wilmington and Southport that follows the Buckley family's descent into illegal activities after their family business struggled.
