- ➤ New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested Craig Noyes at a hotel in the Porter’s Neck area on May 27 for human trafficking charges—he is accused of using his credit card to pay for a woman's hotel room for men to perform paid services and is set to appear in court on June 12 at 2 p.m. WECT
- ➤ A jury reached a verdict Tuesday afternoon that found Raquel Adams guilty on all charges—including two counts of first degree murder—and sentenced her to two consecutive life sentences for killing Koredreese Tyson, 29, and Bri-yanna Williams, 21, who were shot in July 2021 at the home of Tru Colors Brewing COO George Taylor III. - ➤ English filmmaker Erica Dunton will begin filming her new psychological thriller 'Pretty Ugly' in Wilmington this summer starting June 2 with scenes on Rankin Street from June 2 to 5 and on Wayne Drive on June 6. - ➤ On May 15, WIN awarded $71,000 to seven nonprofits that support arts and culture in New Hanover County — the grants ranged from $4,800 to $23,000 after evaluating applications from 33 arts organizations. WECT

- ➤ The NCDMV will offer Saturday walk-in services this summer from May 31 to Aug 23—excluding June 28 and July 5—at select offices that open from 8 a.m. to noon. Services include driver licenses or ID cards, renewals, duplicate orders, address changes, REAL ID issuances and road tests for customers who have completed the required tests. WECT
- ➤ New Hanover County needs more foster families for children in care as only about 60 families are licensed while 434 children were placed in custody last year. Alice Moore said anyone who wants to become a foster parent should contact the county and expect a 3-to-4 month process—which includes a background check and a fire safety inspection. WWAY
