  • On Saturday, ACCESS of Wilmington hosted Tanner Smith—star of Netflix’s Love on the Spectrum—at Miracle Field in Olsen Park with music, dancing, games and a Q&A session with his mom; local teams like the Wilmington Sharks also gifted him a jersey. CRIME NEWS

  • Former Dublin Fire Chief Pete Batton was killed in a car crash on Highway 41 on May 24 when his car was hit from behind by a tow truck while he waited to turn onto his home road; his funeral was held Saturday at Dublin First Baptist Family Life Center—investigators charged Kirkland Smith with felony second-degree murder as his family urged everyone to cherish their loved ones.  WECT

  • On Saturday, artist Wyland visited the ABC Store on Wrightsville Ave in Wilmington to paint a shark mural and launch Blue Shark Vodka's new lemon+vanilla-flavored vodka; visitors sampled the drink, received signed bottles, and Wyland said he might return for touch ups on his art.  WWAY
  • The Port City Highland Games held Saturday on Randall Parkway celebrated Scottish heritage with kilts, cultural food, games, live music, highland dancing, sword fighting, and shop vendors — proceeds will support Paws4Vets to help veterans receive service dogs.  WECT
