  • Wilmington viewers watched the locally filmed Netflix series 'The Waterfront' debut yesterday; the gritty drama—about a fishing family turning to drug dealing—has received mixed reviews and featured local actor Brady Hepner.   • On Thursday, the Historic Wilmington Foundation rededicated a plaque for Colonel Kathy King at the Historic African American Maides Cemetery near the Derick Davis Community Center. King, a local resident who led cleanup efforts at the cemetery and died in January from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, was honored for her lasting impact—her work kept a treasured community site alive.  WWAY

  • Sunset Beach police removed an 8-foot alligator from the ocean at 1:47 p.m. on Thursday—Sergeant Gray, licensed through the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, secured the animal and relocated it to a nearby pond.  FOX Wilmington
  • Wilmington Police Chief Donny Williams received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award at the Wilmington City Council meeting on June 17. He will retire on June 27 after 35 years with the Wilmington Police Department.  WECT

  • Novant Health is bridging the healthcare gap with its Community Care Cruiser—Manager Elizabeth Forte explained the initiative in a studio interview yesterday, saying it makes it easier for patients to get care.  WECT
