- ➤ On Saturday, Oak Island officials responded to multiple water rescues near 25th Place West and 54th Place West, and attempted to resuscitate 58-year-old Lori Ann Scappino (from Creedmoor) who suffered a cardiac emergency while swimming but she was pronounced dead after nearly half an hour of efforts.
