- ➤ On Saturday, firefighters battled intense flames at Tommy’s RV Storage on Ash Little River Road in Calabash when several travel trailers burned—access was delayed by a locked gate and high heat complicated efforts—and crews contained the blaze in about an hour with no injuries while officials investigated a controlled burn that got out of hand. - ➤ A Brunswick County man charged with murder, 54-year-old Edward Christopher Stutey, appeared in court on July21 with his own attorney after 42-year-old Jamie Caldwell died on July20—he is held without bond and will next appear on July31. WECT

- ➤ Wilmington mayoral candidates include incumbent Bill Saffo—former county commissioner Jonathan Barfield Jr. and real estate agent Billy Craig, who all filed to run ahead of the upcoming municipal election. - ➤ Cape Fear Public Utility Authority is offering free clean drinking water at community water stations in New Hanover County for residents to fill containers. - ➤ Wilmington officials approved the second phase of the Greenville Loop Trail on July 15 at a cost of $3,864,253.74—construction will begin within two weeks and could take up to 9 months.
