- ➤ Since 2023, more than 135 pedestrian accidents have occurred on Wilmington roads, with 15 fatalities reported and three deaths on Market Street in July. - ➤ The Wilmington City Council is urging the Board of Elections to open two more early voting sites because early voting is planned only at the Northeast Regional Library. Mayor Bill Saffo’s letter proposed adding the Cape Fear Community College Health Sciences Building and the County Senior Resource Center, and the Board will meet on August 6 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the plan.
