EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Endowment approved three grants totaling $1.2 million to support local nonprofits that assist teachers, survivors of sexual abuse, and build nonprofit capacity in New Hanover County. Cape Fear Collective will use $191,000 for a capacity-building pilot, Communities In Schools of Cape Fear will receive $900,000 over three years for classroom resources, and Keep Your Hands Off Me, Inc. was awarded $95,000 — each grant is set to improve educational support in the area. - ➤ Beachgoers found a Plover chick stuck in a clam shell on the dunes and brought it to Skywatch Bird Rescue Clinic. The rescue team freed its foot—though one toe was partly lost—and reunited the chick with its nesting colony. WWAY
