ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ One person died in a car accident near Carolina Beach Road as the Wilmington Police Department and Wilmington Fire Department responded to the scene—causing a portion of the road to be closed while officials continue to investigate the incident. WECT
- ➤ A small airplane crashed in the ocean near Oak Island Pier at around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday—town officials said the sole occupant, the pilot, was treated by EMS while the Coast Guard led the investigation. WECT

- ➤ The J&J Snack Foods facility in Holly Ridge closed unexpectedly on Thursday, causing 48 job losses as the company issued no formal statement—town officials learned of the closure from the Onslow County Small Business Center and plan to work with Coastal Carolina Community College and NCworks to help displaced workers. - ➤ Plastic Ocean Project launched its Sustainable Summer initiative in July to help locals reduce plastic waste and keep our beaches clean. The nonprofit offers a free guide, email tips, and starter kits while partnering with local businesses—Bowstring Burgers, Brewyard, Lala and Elm, and Folks Cafe—to donate a portion of sales during August.
