- ➤ Communities In Schools of Cape Fear is holding its 25th annual 'Stuff the Bus' drive on Aug. 13 and 14 at Office Depot Hanover Center + Staples on College Road to collect new school supplies for students in need across Pender and New Hanover counties. - ➤ Cape Fear Community College students interested in fine arts can now transfer to New York Film Academy through a new partnership (students who finish an eligible associate degree can enter selected bachelor's programs and may get a tuition discount and scholarships). FOX Wilmington

- ➤ Tropical Storm Dexter formed off the North Carolina coast on Aug. 3 and moved east-northeast with 45 mph winds; it is expected to become post-tropical by Wednesday and pose no threat to coastal areas. Wilmington Star-News

- ➤ City crews will start the roundabout project update by closing a section of River Road from Coleman Drive to Independence Boulevard on Aug. 18 and officials said the road will remain closed for six months.
