- ➤ Wrightsville Beach will host its first Bike Rodeo on October 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Wrightsville Beach Park where the free event will feature a bike safety obstacle course plus bike and helmet checks, a dunk tank, food, and prizes. WECT

- ➤ Madame Meerkat’s Cabinet of Curiosities sells metaphysical supplies, jewelry and crystals at 3342 Wrightsville Ave.—The shop offers daily psychic readings, a coffee and tea bar and local art to guide customers on their spiritual journey. Wilmington Star-News
- ➤ A double episode of The Great Food Truck Race filmed near Wilmington showed teams competing to craft an elevated Southern breakfast at a Leland hotel where local chef Lauren Krall Ivey served as judge. County health inspectors temporarily closed one truck for running out of water—Cooking with Que earned a $15,000 prize while Fat Kid Food Co. was eliminated— and the episode aired on Aug. 17. - ➤ Cape Fear Community College’s Small Business Center has been ranked North Carolina’s top-performing center for the third year, showing its work in helping local business owners. In the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the center launched 54 new businesses, created 185 jobs, and offered 480 hours of counseling and 162 workshops — officials said the honor highlights its role in boosting local economic growth. - ➤ Wrightsville Beach will merge its water and sewer systems with CFPUA on Sept. 30, so all customers will gain a more secure water supply from the Sweeney Water Treatment Plant—CFPUA will begin building extra interconnections late 2025 with full consolidation expected around mid-2026.
