- ➤ A man jumped off a New Hanover County bridge early Sunday morning to avoid arrest and was pulled from the water by Wilmington Fire — he now faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon, false report to law enforcement, and resisting officers and has been booked into the county detention facility on a $60,000 bond. - ➤ Cape Fear Community College will host an alumni art exhibition at the Wilma W. Daniels Gallery starting next month—showing work from graduates over the past decade and featuring a Fourth Friday Reception on Sep. 26 from 6 to 9 p.m., with the exhibit open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Sep. 2 to Oct. 17. - ➤ Officials reopened S Kerr Avenue after a fire investigation—previously closed in both directions—allowing drivers to return safely. WECT
- ➤ Mayor Bill Saffo and Wilmington City Council members held a groundbreaking ceremony on Aug. 25 for the future construction of a $2.42 million single-lane roundabout at the intersection of River Road and Independence Boulevard.
