  • Wilmington and surrounding areas will host a range of fall festivals from September through November that offer art, crafts, food, and music for all ages. Events include the Carolina Beach Dragon Boat Regatta, American Craft Walk and Wilmington Riverfest — all with free or affordable admission.  Wilmington Star-News
  • On Saturday, the Sun Coast Cruisers held 'Cars in the Park' at Belville Riverwalk Park—cars and trucks of many years, makes and models were displayed, judged and awarded.   • Deputies from the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office responded at 1 p.m. on Sept. 6 to a suspicious person on Davis Lane in Castle Hayne—finding two deceased people and detaining a third as detectives began a death investigation.  Wilmington Star-News

  • Wilmington-area restaurants and chefs have appeared on Food Network shows and earned top reviews such as James Beard nominations and AAA Diamond ratings. Local spots like Olivero and Dram Yard were featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and Great Food Truck Race while others have closed, showing a mix of culinary success and change.  Wilmington Star-News

  • Gov. Josh Stein said federal cuts to NOAA and FEMA have left the state less ready for an above-normal hurricane season that began June 1, and he urged neighbors to follow local safety plans after Hurricane Helene hit last September; emergency management officials stressed that having a checklist, an emergency kit, and safety alerts is key to staying safe amid uncertain federal support—personal preparedness remains essential as the season unfolds.  FOX Wilmington
