- ➤ Wilmington opened its new city hall on Monday at Skyline Center, a 370,000 square foot building renovated over eight months after being bought from Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2023 for $68 million; the building now houses 15 city departments, a new service center, meeting rooms and council chambers while unused floors are leased to private businesses. - ➤ The city of Wilmington held the grand opening for its new City Hall at Skyline Center on Sept. 8, consolidating 15 departments and adding parking near Riverfront Park — Mayor Bill Saffo led the ribbon cutting after the city purchased the building for $68 million.
