- ➤ Catch, the James Beard-nominated restaurant, will close its Market Street location on September 20 as its property is set to become a Sheetz—Chef Keith Rhodes will open a 30-seat upscale bistro called VOYCE downtown in about six weeks. Wilmington Star-News

- ➤ Grammy award-winning producer David Foster and singer Katharine McPhee will perform at CFCC’s Wilson Center on February 11 as part of their 'An Intimate Evening' tour — tickets go on sale Friday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. They will perform classic hits from Foster’s four decades in the music industry. - ➤ JJ Grey & Mofro will perform at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater on Oct. 2 to promote their new album Olustee, which took eight years to complete and mixes rock, soul, and country sounds with a live orchestra. - ➤ The 'Popping Off: Pop Culture Art Show' opens in Wilmington at Soda Pop Gallery on Princess St from Sept. 26 to Oct. 19—pop culture-themed art by Angela Fernot, MoJohLobster, and Lobster X will be displayed and the opening reception is set for Sept. 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. with free admission. WECT
- ➤ This weekend, Wilmington offers a busy schedule with events such as a play at Thalian Hall, a comedy show featuring Blair Socci at Dead Crow Comedy Room, and live music at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater — along with fall festivals and art events. - ➤ Cape Fear Community College signed a transfer agreement with Western Governors University that lets graduates and employees apply for $3,500 scholarships— creating an affordable pathway to continue their education and improve the local workforce. WECT
- ➤ Jacen Murphy, a former student returning as a teacher at New Hanover High School, was named Teacher of the Month for September during a surprise visit on Friday and received a $600 prize. He said teaching at his old school feels very rewarding as he helps students through tough days. WWAY
