  • The S. Thomas Rhodes Bridge has carried cars over the Cape Fear River for over 40 years—named for a local leader who served in the state House—and remains a key road on U.S. 421 that marks Wilmington’s history.  Wilmington Star-News

  • Mary's Gone Wild is a roadside attraction in Holden Beach that features a doll museum, a chapel, glass bottle houses, and folk art — artist Mary Paulsen has sold her paintings and collectibles there for more than 45 years.  Wilmington Star-News
  • Thalian Association Community Theatre brings the Broadway play Home to Wilmington at Thalian Hall from Oct 17th to Oct 19th—marking its return after many years and part of Pender County's 150th anniversary celebration.   • A nor’easter battered coastal towns in Cape Fear as waves crashed onto North Topsail Beach porches and water crept onto roads. Topsail Beach resident Jeff Wells said residents used sandbags for protection—erosion made some buildings unsafe and hazardous conditions closed beach access at Wrightsville Beach.  WWAY
