- ➤ Representatives from the Mungo Homes Foundation presented a $10,000 check to Nourish NC on Wednesday at its Market Street warehouse—an effort by a home builder known for building tens of thousands of homes for families in need. This donation is part of its second Week of Giving event. WWAY
- ➤ More than 100 residents attended a New Hanover Community Endowment meeting at Cape Fear Community College's Union Station last night. They discussed the endowment’s accomplishments, community issues, and a new $2 million Emergency Recovery Grant Reserve to help residents during major crises. WWAY

- ➤ Pender County Schools released its graduation schedule for 2025-26. Mid-year ceremonies are on Jan. 5 at Topsail, Heide Trask, Pender and Pender Innovative Learning Academy (at Cape Fear Middle School) while spring ceremonies will take place in May at school gyms and CFCC’s Wilson Center. - ➤ Oceana reported a critically endangered North Atlantic right whale was seen 250 yards off Carolina Beach on Monday, Dec. 8. Officials advised boaters to keep 500 yards away while locals could safely view the rare marine visitor (a unique chance for onshore sightings). WECT

- ➤ UNCW will honor four new inductees into its Athletic Hall of Fame on April 18, 2026 — the 15th class will be recognized during an event that begins with an 11 a.m. reception and luncheon, with $50 tickets on sale after the holidays. WWAY
