  • Wreaths Across America held a ceremony honoring and remembering veterans at Wilmington National Cemetery on Dec. 13, drawing local community members who came to pay their respects & celebrate their service.  Wilmington Star-News
  • Families gathered at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Whiteville on Saturday afternoon to lay Christmas wreaths on graves honoring fallen service members, with high school JROTC members joining the tribute (led by Sgt. Maj. Stephen Harris) while the pastor noted his emotional response (as family members remembered loved ones).  FOX Wilmington

CULTURE NEWS

  • Homes across Wilmington continue to sparkle with holiday lights and decorations this season. Favorites include the Melton Road display — a local hotspot for festive lights — and the Okeechobee Road site where Santa appeared, while other homes on Kirby Smith Drive and in Leland offer eye-catching setups.  Wilmington Star-News
  • Moores Creek National Battlefield held a Saturday event that let visitors experience a 1776 Christmas with candle-making, corn husk doll classes, musket firing, and naval store demos (a live glimpse into history).
