- ➤ The Wilmington Police Department is offering a free women’s self-defense class on Jan. 21, 22, 28, and 29 from 6 to 9 p.m.—limited to 14 spots and open to women 18 and over who meet attendance and background check requirements. FOX Wilmington
- ➤ The NAACP New Hanover County will host its 14th MLK Jr. Breakfast next month at the Wilmington Convention Center on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. Keynote Bishop Valerie Melvin will speak, and community awards will be given (Minister of the Year and Church of the Year). WWAY
- ➤ New Hanover County Public Library will host its 2026 Winter Book Sale at Northeast Library starting next month. The event will offer hardback books for $2 and paperbacks for $1 with all proceeds benefiting the library, running from Jan. 23 to Feb. 1. FOX Wilmington
