- ➤ Several Cape Fear groups host New Year's Eve events on Dec. 31. The Children's Museum runs a craft and confetti event from 9 a.m. to noon, Thalian Hall holds a black-tie gala from 6 p.m., and Kure Beach and Burgaw stage festivities with fireworks and a blueberry drop. WECT

- ➤ New Hanover County continued its floodplain management efforts to help homeowners get discounted flood insurance rates through the NFIP. - ➤ Leland Town Council approved rezoning 37 acres at Terrapin Landing for the Novant Health Leland Medical Center, after balancing land uses to maintain local housing density. The hospital site — set to open by January 2030 — will begin site preparation in early 2027 to serve the growing northwest area. Port City Daily
- ➤ The City of Wilmington will offer free downtown parking for the holidays from Wed, Dec. 24 through Fri, Dec. 26. Normal parking rates will resume on Dec. 27. WECT
